One of my favorite bits of animation in the film, and one of the most cartoony bits of animation by Kahl who was usually known for drawing very realistically.

Milt actually preferred to do cartoony animation.

Huh, never would have guessed. Kinda sad he didn't do more of that.

He worked on a Goofy short called Tiger Trouble that's only cartoony animation. Some Disney animators thought Milt Khal could only animate realistic characters, so he kind of did that cartoon to shut them up. I think Richard Williams told the story somewhere in the Animator's Survival Kit.

His work in the Br'er Rabbit segments on Song of the South, Brom Bones making a face while saying "There's things with horns and saucer eyes" in Ichabod and Mr. Toad and Bagheera's reaction to Kaa trying to eat Mowgli and later Kaa hypnotizing Bagheera from The Jungle Book are also pretty cartoony.
