GAINAX made a accidental grope scene and not only it's not, as usual, the most pitifully sad moment of the anime... they managed to make it fan disservice, and even more amazingly to turn it into a ulterior moment of analysis of two characters. Seriously, basically nobody had ever done that again or before. I may be biased, but those eggheads under boss Anno back in the 90s were probably the best ever xD
