Al-Manahil (المناهل) was a Jordanian educational children's program in 1987 directed by Jordanian writer and actor Hashim Yanis (هاشم يانس). The series was intended to teach Arabic to children and was an abridgement of the American TV series The Electric Company. Although some aspects of the show were lifted directly from its American incarnation, such as the Abu Hurouf shorts which were a take on the Adventures of Letterman, most of the show's contents, both live action and animated, were original, reflecting Arabic language, culture, and history, while boasting a wide range of media like 2D animation, stop motion, and live action skits.
