As far as I can tell (keep in mind, I'm no expert on this either), the DoP is the one that oversees the overall style of the show or movie's composite, while the VFX artists are the ones who execute the effects you see in the final product.adaroo said:

I'm not 100% sure, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. But the VFX director is just the one to make sure they get executed the way the DoP wants them to and corrects the work when needed. Think of it like an animator & Animation Director-type scenario.adaroo said:
