HOW can I tell if somethings Sakuga and what's not?
I mean seriously, literally half of my gifs have been deleted. I think there needs to be an update with the rules. Because I have no knowledge on what's allowed and what's not. AT ALL.
Watch Clutch Cargo.

On a more serious note try visiting the IRC channel and look for the DB mods. I guess one problem with using sakuga as a qualitative term is that everyone has different standards.

Peter Chung has some excellent points here:

I don't think the question should be "what is sakuga?" but rather "what is considered a worthwhile contribution to the sakugabooru?"

It can certainly be frustrating if you contribute something and find that it is deleted because it doesn't meet the requirements of the platform. All contributions here are from the community itself, and I think we all benefit from both the sharing of content as well as the sharing of ideas.

If you feel strongly that something was deleted incorrectly or that it has unique value as a showcase of animation, you should argue your point. It's entirely possible that there is something you see it in that someone else didn't.

But before that I think it would be fair to consider the following points about a piece of animation before uploading it:

- Is this a well animated sequence which can be considered exceptional and/or unique either in the category of content it represents or in general?

- This there unique technical merit in the sequence worth showcasing, ie: an example of the skill of the animator in animating a type of action or effect?

- Would this sequence stand out well compared to other similar types of sequences already available on the booru?

If you feel that it definitely falls into one or more of those categories, then it is unlikely that it would get deleted. If it does, at least you would be able to present a justification for it to be reinstated. Sometimes there are animated sequences we like personally which isn't really particularly interesting from an animation standpoint. That doesn't mean it's a bad scene though, but if everyone contributing isn't picky at all, then before long we'll notice that entire episodes are being uploaded because in some shows every single scene is at least decent looking.

Hope the advice helps. :)
