over 2 years agoProbably has something to do with their use of rotoscoping (and that 30 FPS is a common framerate with cameras).

over 2 years agoTo me Coalowl seems very much like a self taught animator so them using non-standard frame rates is not surprising. They likely film their reference at 30, or alternatively their animation software defaults to 30.
animating at 24 is a convention exclusively built for tv/film, and I think there's some exploring to be done for web animators when it comes to animating at frame rates beyond 24, like 48 or 60. I've done one limited animation test at 60 and it has some interesting implications for the flexibility of easing, rapid motions and impact frames. I wanna try more.
